About Boards of Review |
|
A Board of Review is a meeting between the scout and at least two Committee Members jn addition to the Advancement Chairperson. The purpose of the Board of Review is not to retest scouts, but rather to ensure that they have completed all the requirements, to determine the quality of their troop experience, and to encourage scouts to advance to the next rank. During the review, the Board will discuss your development along your trail to Eagle, ask you questions about skills that were required for your particular rank to evaluate you in terms of Troop activities and readiness for the next rank. At the end of the review, you will be asked to leave the room while the Board discusses your qualifications. The Board will then call you back into the room and inform you either that you have been approved for the next rank or what additional actions you must take to qualify. Simply having all the requirements signed off in your book does not entitle you to advance to the next rank. The Board will be determining if you have achieved the “essence” of the rank in leadership, service, and skill knowledge. Your parents also must understand that simply having all the requirements signed off in your book will not entitle you to advance to the next rank. Advancement is not a race, and should not be viewed as such. Advancement designates that you (the scout) has achieved all that is meant to be achieved designated by that rank. |
